Disney is in the early stages of planning a membership program similar to Amazon Prime, according to a Wall Street Journal report Wednesday.

The membership "will offer discounts or special incentives to encourage consumers to spend more on its streaming services, theme parks, resorts and merchandise," the WSJ said, citing unnamed sources. According to the report, Disney hopes the program will take advantage of cross-selling across its various entertainment establishments, both to provide more value to its customers by personalizing their content, as well as by gathering data and information on those preferences. to collect, according to the report.

The Membership Program will help users of one Disney product or service receive discounts for others. Disney already offers some additional benefits to Disney Plus members for other Disney properties. For example, Disney World is currently offering a 25% discount for Disney Plus subscribers.

The company is also in talks to work with third parties to offer more Disney experiences, such as discounts on tickets to Disney shows on Broadway, the report said.

Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
