YouTube will begin Removing Videos Containing Misinformation about Abortion

 

YouTube said Thursday it will begin removing videos containing abortion misinformation, including videos that include instructions for unsafe abortion methods. The video-sharing platform will also remove videos promoting false claims about the safety of abortion under Google's medical misinformation policies.

"As with all of our policies on health/medical topics, we rely on guidance published by health authorities," YouTube said on Twitter. "We prefer to connect people with content from authoritative sources on health topics."

Google's medical policies include removing information that "contradicts certain safe medical practices of local health authorities or the WHO," including safe chemical and surgical abortion methods.

YouTube will also include an informational panel on abortion, with information from health authorities.
