OnePlus 10T will be announced on August 3

 

OnePlus has a new phone coming, and the company revealed to CNET that it will be announced at an in-person event in New York on August 3rd. Called the OnePlus 10T, the phone will run on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset globally.

There's no "Pro" name for the next OnePlus device, while the company is continuing with its "T" branding that it's used on and off since the debut of the OnePlus 3T in 2016. OnePlus has typically released two flagships per year, one in the first half of the year and one in the second half, although the company did not release a second half device in 2021.

OnePlus says the 10T will carry the tagline "Goes beyond speed," though what that actually means remains a mystery since the only known upgrade is the processor at the moment. Judging by the invite, the design of the device looks similar to the 10 Pro and it may also come in a "sandstone" finish similar to the back of the earlier OnePlus One.

The launch event will take place at Gotham Hall in New York at 10 a.m. ET (7 a.m. PT, 3 p.m. BST) and will be streamed live on the company's social media channels. Fans in the area will also be able to attend the event in person, with tickets available for $25 to "Red Cable Club" members today and July 21 to everyone else via OnePlus' website.

Anyone who buys a ticket will get a pair of its Nord Buds and "other OnePlus swag," OnePlus says. The first 50 tickets purchased will receive an additional ticket free and the company will have approximately 400 tickets available.

In addition to the 10T, OnePlus is also teasing some additional improvements coming in its upcoming OxygenOS 13 update, including a new always-on display widget that it developed in collaboration with Spotify. The widget will allow users to view song title, artist and album on the lock screen and even control audio playback with the screen off. OnePlus says "most devices" with OxygenOS 13 will get the feature.

As for the devices getting the new software later this year, OnePlus is planning for its flagship 8 series (or later) phones, as well as the Nord 2, Nord 2T, Nord CE, Nord CE 2, Nord CE Will also make updates available. 2 Light. The new 10T, launching next month, will ship with OxygenOS 12.1 when it's released.

OnePlus says the 10 Pro and 10T will be the first devices to receive the OxygenOS 13 update and are slated to receive the software later this year.
